Jesus told the people to not make any rash vows. Sometimes it’s easy to emphasize what we say by “Swearing to God” or any other statement along those lines. We need to be able to prove ourselves worthy and just say “Yes” or “No” in all our circumstances. We don’t need to be wishy-washy people, but ones who say what they mean.
